A belated Happy New Year!

I can't believe it's February, already! I thought about a 'New Year' post for some time now, but due to a lot of unexpected events I finally totally missed it.
Anyway, this is the time when we’re usually bursting with motivation and promises to not repeat the mistakes of the past. I'm no exception! I know I’ve learned a lot in the last 12 months, and I have spent some time thinking about what my priorities will be for my blog and my work in 2015. I need a radical change :) Especially concerning my relationship to the world/market of art.

The first illustration I did in 2015 was a fan-art of Kiki's Delivery Service animation movie. If you are familiar with the anime, you probably know that one major theme of the movie is Kiki's transition into adulthood. Kiki leaves home to train as a witch and to become independent.
I'm currently going through a transition period myself too so I thought a  little watercolor homage to Kiki was the perfect way to start the new year!

I wish you all the best for 2015!

Wip shots...

  1. This is an example pic for fanart when you do a submission on DA. What are your plans concerning the art market? I am glad I have some pics of you. They are so beautiful!

  2. Thank you for your comment, Nathalie! About the art market....do just what I like - despite of what is the market's demand - and be very careful about art galleries and curators. A lot of incompetent/inexperienced people out there :|

  3. I have no idea what the market`s demand may be. I thought you always did what you like. I sure like a lot of your pictures and your overall material approach and style! I wish you a lucky year and many grand pics.
